Summers are hot in Maryland. Who wouldn’t want to have an Independence Day BBQ party by the pool at Enclave, our pet-friendly luxury apartments near the DC Metro area?

Before the rockets’ red glare lights up the night, the sun will be high in the sky, and the fourth is the perfect time to have an outdoor grilling party by the pool. So bring out the burgers and dogs – mac & cheese, potato salad, and coleslaw – and invite your family, friends, and colleagues to Silver Spring’s best summer bash.

Grilling for The Fourth

Use this excellent summer holiday opportunity to enjoy a full-size swimming pool with grilling/bbq areas with all your guests. The clubhouse and pool areas provide free Wi-Fi, so bring your Bluetooth to play DJ. Instead of your usual playlists, maybe mix it up by choosing an era or country to play hits from.

Keeping it simple and easy is best in this summer heat, so instead of setting up a bar and mixing separate drinks, consider making a giant bowl of punch. Or try one of these easy pitcher cocktails from Town and Country Magazine.

Lastly, don’t forget to keep everyone comfortable by bringing down extra cushions, towels, sunscreen, and napkins.

Getting Ready

Enclave Silver Springs is located across the street from the White Oak Shopping Center, where you can get all your ingredients and supplies. And if you forget anything, there’s an on-site convenience store for last-minute needs.

Enclave also has a children’s play area, so your kids don’t get bored. There’s guest parking and a party room where you can prep all your decorations and supplies. Enclave even offers a complimentary shuttle to the Silver Springs Metro, so your guests don’t have to drive.

Is Your Silver Springs Home Ready for Fall?

As we prepare for cooler months, there are a few ways you can ensure that your White Oak apartment is equipped to handle the cold. These tips can help you keep your home warm and make wintertime more manageable.

As we prepare for cooler months, there are a few ways you can ensure that your White Oak apartment is equipped to handle the cold. These tips can help you keep your home warm and make wintertime more manageable.

Check for Drafts

While you might appreciate a cool breeze in the summer, a draft in the colder months can add to your heating costs if it goes unchecked. To detect any unexplained drafts, you can examine your White Oak home for any cracks or holes in the walls.

It's also a good idea to examine windows and doorways to see if they're fully sealed when shut properly. If you suspect a draft from any location, you should contact your landlord or property manager as soon as possible.

Acquire the Proper Supplies

Once exposed to the elements, walkways, steps, and driveways can become slippery obstacles. Make sure you're equipped to deal with icy steps and paths that have become entrenched with snow. Rock salt is essential to quickly melting accumulated ice on your steps, and a shovel is a no-brainer for clearing any walkways.

You may also want to invest in a pair of winter boots and snow pants for when you need to make your way through the snow to your car. You can also carry your work shoes in a bag with you. This can help you keep your business attire looking professional, regardless of any dirty slush or icy surface you may encounter along the way.

Test Your Heating System

There's nothing worse than turning your heat on in the winter, only to have nothing happen. Turn on your heating system for 12 to 24 hours to test it out before bad weather hits can help prevent any heating mishaps. This applies to any type of heating system you use, whether forced-air, natural gas, coal, or wood-burning. We've provided a useful checklist you can run through to make sure your furnace is winter-ready.

Prepare Your Bedding

While cotton sheets are a great option in warm weather due to their breathability and natural sweat-wicking capabilities, they might not be the best choice for cooler temperatures. We recommend switching out light cotton sheets for flannel, cotton sateen, or fleece options during the winter months. These denser choices help trap more heat under the covers when the cold weather hits, while still remaining light enough for easy cleaning and sweat management.

Fall and winter can be tough seasons for homeowners and renters to deal with. Following these preparation tips can keep you warm and make the colder weather easier to manage.

Nearby, Silver Spring, Maryland, offers luxury apartments for rent that make it convenient to visit Fells Point anytime you choose.

Take a Hike on a Waterfront Promenade

The 4.4-mile walk along the Baltimore Waterfront Promenade from Fells Point to Canton Waterfront Park offers you the chance to enjoy city and water views as you stroll along the Patapsco River. This walk is suitable for all ages and typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes to complete. Expect some bikes on the trail, and dogs on leashes are allowed.

Visit the Oldest Bar in Town

Once you’ve finished your waterside walk, quench your thirst at the town's oldest bar, The Horse, You Came In On Saloon. Known locally as The Horse, the bar was established in 1775 and claims to be America's oldest continually operated saloon, remaining open even during prohibition. Rumors have it that this bar was Edgar Allan Poe's last stop before his mysterious death. Its name also inspired best-selling mystery writer Martha Grimes, who used it as the title of a famous detective caper.

Take a Walking and Eating Tour

If you're hungry after all this walking and drinking, consider a walkable food tour. These tours allow you to try multiple restaurants in one day as you walk through Baltimore’s historic neighborhoods and learn about their rich history through stories and cultural anecdotes.

See Some 'Outsider' Art

Walk to the beat of a different drum and visit the inclusive American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM). You'll need to leave any traditional perception of museums behind to enjoy this must-see architectural wonder near Fells Point. The unique landmark features the work of self-taught artists and challenges the accepted notion of what it means to be an artist.

If you'd like to live near Fells Point, MD, the lovely community of Silver Spring is only 34 miles away. You can find the best apartments for rent in Silver Spring  at The Enclave Silver Spring.

Celebrating Father’s Day in Washington

One of the best things about the nation's capital is that there's always something to do as a family on the weekend, and Father's Day offers the perfect chance to spend a weekend with Dad and enjoy his interests. Whether your father prefers to get out and be active or take things more leisurely, you'll find plenty of things to do near Enclave Apartments, especially as the pandemic comes to an end.

Golfing With Dad

Summer is the perfect time to go play a round of golf if that's one of your father's interests, and there are plenty of first-rate golf courses in Silver Spring and around the D.C. metro area. With a lot of people likely to get out and enjoy the nice weather, it's a good idea to book a tee time sooner rather than later so you can play a course that will both challenge you and give you time to enjoy each other's company.

Check Out Great Falls

If you're looking to get out and enjoy the fresh air but don't want to put in a lot of physical effort, making a visit to Great Falls is always a good idea. The falls are one of the most beautiful sites on the Potomac River, and you'll be able to explore them at your own pace, making it perfect for any level of physical activity. Of course, the Potomac is also an outstanding place to sit back and try your hand at catching a few fish, so if angling is one of your father's hobbies, you've got the perfect backdrop to do exactly that near some of the best apartments in the D.C. metro area.

Taking It Easy

If Dad wants a day to sit back and relax, Washington's proximity to the beaches of Maryland and Virginia makes it easy to spend a day of fun in the sun and sand. You'll have to drive a little ways from Enclave Apartments, but if you're willing to spend some time in the car, you'll be able to truly make the most of your time together. Or you can get out of the heat and see some of the most picturesque views of the mountains by taking a ride on the historic Western Maryland railroads. These lines still run today, providing one of the most unique experiences in the mid-Atlantic region.

Even if you simply dedicate the day to visiting the monuments in Washington or hanging out in Silver Spring, the most important part of the holiday is being with your father. No matter what you and your dad choose to do with your time together, nothing beats simply spending a weekend with your father and enjoying a memory that both of you will treasure forever.
