Best Parks to Visit When Living in Bethesda

Carderock Recreational Area

Carderock Recreational Area is known for housing a park of the Billy Goat trail, which can be challenging for people who enjoy hiking. Carderock is also known for its rock climbing and beautiful scenery. Stopping in at Carderock, you can enjoy a view of the Potomac River and beautiful, peaceful woodland.

Many people who come to Carderock enjoy and appreciate the relatively undiscovered quality that Carderock enjoys. Unlike some other recreational areas nearby, Carderock rarely has a full parking lot, and is often less populated than some others. Come here for a peaceful afternoon spent quietly reflecting, enjoying nature, and walking the trails. 

Cabin John Regional Park

Cabin John Regional Park is a very diverse park with horseshoe pits, volleyball, an adventure playground, a parking lot with 34 spaces, 2 shelters, many picnic tables, a ball field, grills, train ride, camping, tennis courts, dog park, ice skating and trails.

In other words, there's no shortage of anything to do at Cabin John, which earns the park high marks in the opinions of locals. You can come to Cabin John in the summer to play sports, enjoy the environmental programs, or spend a relaxing afternoon picnicking with family and friends. McCrillis House and Gardens

McCrillis Gardens is a shady woodland property with a lot of natural beauty. This park in a residential neighborhood covers 5 acres. The gardens feature winding paths, bulbs, shade-loving perennials, ground cover, ornamental trees and shrubs and shrubs. 

It's a great place to bring a dog on a leash and enjoy a nice sit on a bench in the cozy garden. The trails are not so extensive that visitors must stay for hours to enjoy the park. Even short visits of 45 minutes are adequate for most.
